When spring begins to awaken in the Vipava Valley and the Karst, the first wild asparagus peeks out. Cultivated white, green and purple asparagus grow in the fields of the Vipava Valley from April to June. Their rich taste and versatility inspire our chefs in creating a wide range of delicacies. From classic asparagus soups, tasty main dishes, all the way to desserts. We invite you to indulge in the creative imagination of our restaurateurs, who invite you to a first-class adventure: treat yourself to a variety of asparagus specialties during the ripening season of wild and cultivated asparagus from the end of March to the middle of June. During this period, creative and healthy dishes will be offered in the following inns: Gostilna Bric, Gostilna Makorič, Gostilna Kogoj, Gostilna Štirna, Okrepčevalnica Cerje, Ošterija Žogica, Ošterija Furlan, Majerija, Gostilna Winkler and Gostilna Koršič.

In Orehovlje, a village along the lower reaches of the Vipava River, an asparagus festival is organized every year in May. In addition to various ethnological and culinary workshops and the traditional procession of farm carts, the event also offers many opportunities to taste traditional and modern asparagus dishes.
