Stjenkova koča Trstelj

The Stjenko Lodge is situated below the top of Mt Trstelj (643 m). At the summit, visitors are treated to a spectacular view of the Gulf of Trieste to the south, and to the north with lovely views of the Vipava Valley, the flatland of Gorica and the Trnovo Forest Plateau. In fine weather, you can see Mt Nanos and the Dolomites in Italy, as well as Mt Triglav – the king of the Slovenian Alps. The lodge serves žlikrofi (a type of savoury stuffed dumpling) and hearty goulash. You can satisfy your sweet tooth with strudel or štruklji (rolled dumplings). The dormitory room can sleep 20 people. The lodge is a popular stop for hikers and day-trippers who love to spend their days outdoor in the forest.
