Eko koča Nanos
Located on the edge of the Nanos Plateau, the lodge affords views of the Adriatic Sea and Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy. A self-sufficient facility, the roof of the lodge features a solar powerplant, water comes from the collected rainwater, and the food is carefully sourced from local organic food producers.
Unspoiled nature and a tranquil setting offer ample leisure opportunities for hikers, cyclists, mushroom hunters, foragers, and herb pickers as the plateau is extremely rich in medicinal plants.
The lodge can host up to 50 people in two separate dining areas, each seating 25. In fine weather, 70 additional outdoor seats can be set up. The dishes are locally inspired, homespun and hearty, just like grandma used to make. The signature dishes are chamois goulash with three-colour polenta (white, yellow, and buckwheat), sauerkraut stew called jota, yeast dough strudel with homemade albumin curd, and various fillings (cottage cheese, walnut, forest fruits, pear, blueberry, etc.), and rustic bread made in a traditional brick oven.
The venue can host smaller celebrations, birthday parties, and other events. The lawn can accommodate a tent for large-scale events such as weddings, anniversaries, and others.
The six rooms can sleep 28 people in total. Next to the lodge is a designated area for parking motorhomes or pitching tents (please note that there is no dump station or electric hookup provided).
