Vina Lisjak 1956

WinemakerAgritourism farm

The history of the Lisjak homestead goes back to 1801. At that time, it was known as the Salt Merchant’s Farm as the owner was among the few who had the licence to trade with salt in the Goriška Region. However, salt wasn’t the only item stored in Lisjak’s cellars. Their predecessors also pursued winemaking, fruit production, distilling spirits, farming and animal husbandry.

In 1956, the farm shifted its focus on intensive viticulture and wine production, and have been growing a range of grape varieties ever since. Only the finest vintages get bottled, the remaining grapes are turned into dry table wines. With ten hectares of vineyards and 30,000 vines, Lisjak holds on to the tradition of producing the region’s signature Malvasia as well as Ribolla, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Zelen, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera and the two blends Solar White and Solar Red.

Besides guided wine tastings, guests can attend a demonstration of local handicrafts, a guided tour of the farm, of the wine cellar and vineyards and taste authentic local food and drinks made directly on the farm.

Not to be missed:

  • agritourism farm
  • a well-maintained cycling trail weaves through Lisjak’s vineyards providing lovely bike tours
  • proximity of Rihemberk Castle one of the most iconic and oldest castles in the country
