Oil Production Tradition Revived
After the massive frost in the early 20th century that swept across the Vipava Valley, olive trees were practically wiped out. It was only in the 1990s that farmers started recognizing the local potential for growing olives. Small-batch manufacture of top-quality olive oil put the Vipava Valley back on the map of countries that produce “Mediterranean gold”.

Kmetija Kante
Located in Šempas, the Kante farm cultivates 800 olive trees and 500 hazelnut trees. The extra virgin olive oil continues to receive top prizes at competitions at home and abroad. If you book in advance, you can take part in a guided tour of the olive grove and attend a tasting of the homemade oils. Farm-made products are also available for sale.
