Soar into the sky!
In the Vipava Valley, you'll find excellent conditions for paragliding or hang-gliding much earlier in the spring than in other Central European and Mediterranean countries. The special microclimate, which varies from place to place in the valley, has long been attracting flying enthusiasts. Every year, the Vipava Valley hosts the springtime's first hang-gliding championship. The two takeoff sites, Lijak and Kovk, are just far enough apart to have different weather conditions, allowing fliers to choose where to fly. Never tried paragliding before? Here you can enjoy this exceptional pastime and fly in tandem with a seasoned licensed pilot. We recommend booking early, as flights are only possible in suitable weather conditions. High up in the sky with a fascinating sense of freedom, you'll be able to enjoy phenomenal views of the Vipava Valley, the Julian Alps, Friuli, the Kras and the Gulf of Trieste.
