GO! 2025 Opening
At the opening ceremony of the European Capital of Culture, we will symbolically unite the two cities, from Gorizia Centrale Railway Station to the Nova Gorica Railway Station.
Join us for this borderless day!
On Prešeren Day, the Slovene Cultural Holiday, visit Nova Gorica and Gorizia, the first cross-border European Capital of Culture! We will celebrate together the start of this unique, exceptional, and borderless year of art and culture with a full day of cross-border events!
- 10.00, Stazione Ferroviaria di Gorizia (IT): start of the cross-border parade with the wind orchestra,
- 10.45, Trgovski dom: joining of the combined Slovenian and Italian police orchestra,
- 11.15, Piazza della Vittoria: cultural programme with speeches by the mayors of both cities,
- 13.15, borderless parade from Piazza della Vittoria to Bevkov trg with wind orchestras and cultural programme,
- 14.45, Bevkov trg (SL): food and drink stalls.
OFFICIAL OPENING
- 16.00, Europe Square: ceremony for distinguished guests with artistic programme,
- 16.00, Trg Edvarda Kardelja: gathering at the central stage with projections of the event from Europe Square,
- 18.00, Trg Edvarda Kardelja: artistic spectacle, the central event of the opening of the European Capital of Culture.
BORDERLESS PARTY
- 18.45, Bevkov trg, Trg Edvarda Kardelja: food and drink stalls, celebration,
- 20.30, Europe Square and other locations across both cities: celebration with music late into the night.
