Giro d'Italia 2025 Nova Gorica/Gorizia
Witness one of the biggest international cycling events
The Giro d'Italia returns to the Goriška region, to Nova Gorica and the Brda. The finish of the 14th stage will take place on 24 May 2025 in the Europe Square between the two Gorizias. The finish of the Giro d'Italia stage in the shared square is a beautiful display of the link between the two Gorizias, between Slovenia and Italy, at the heart of this year's programme.
The 14th stage of the cycling spectacle starts in Treviso, passing through the Friulian Plain to Goriška Brda and finally to Nova Gorica, where two final laps take place through the city. At the finish line near the Europe Square, cycling enthusiasts will be able to welcome the great Slovenian cyclists, in recent years pushing the boundaries at the very top of world cycling.
Combine your visit to the famous race with a free concert by the successful Italian band The Kolors, which will take place at 8.00 PM in the center of Nova Gorica.
Discover the conurbation of the two Gorizias
Nova Gorica is a special city, built after the Second World War right on the border with Italy. It is inspired by the many cultures historically meeting in this fascinating part of the world, at the crossroads of the Vipava Valley, the Soča Valley, and the Goriška Brda hills. Today, the two Gorizias, the older Italian and the younger Slovenian, are united without border crossings, in harmony and flowing with life. Yet this unique European conurbation, graced in 2025 with the title of European Capital of Culture, has a turbulent shared history. You can experience life along the once heavily guarded border on the unique Smuggling Tour, a guided experience of the smuggling activities of old.
