Tracing its roots 200 years into the past, the Erneic family has a deep connection to viticulture and winemaking. Over the years, it has grown into a winemaking operation that makes top-notch wines such as Ribolla, Malvasia, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, plus various white and red blends. Wine tastings take place in the ancient wine cellar by prior appointment. The Erneic family line goes back 200 years to their ancestor Jernej who was born on a farm in Šmihel. It was Leopold Leban (1883–1922) who first expressed the wish to set up his own vineyard in this place. Unfortunately, his untimely death put a stop to his plans. It took until 1988 when Edi Leban planted the first vineyard here to fulfil his grandfather’s, but mostly his own, wish. Just like the tendrils that help the vines to get a firm grip on the soil and allow them to shoot forward, the dynamic duo Leban-Lojk create exquisite wines from premium grapes. A prime sun-kissed location, dedication to the vineyard and a passion for vine cultivation give rise to top-quality wines.
