Retovc 1892
With a rich wine-growing tradition dating back to 1892, the Retovc farm was taken over in 2017 by the brother duo Dejan and Robert, who decided to focus on the production of natural boutique wines, incorporating newest insights about organic winemaking and building on their father's practical expertise. Their grapes ripen on great sites across sun-kissed hillsides around the village of Šmarje. “Less is more” is a concept that applies both in their vineyard and in the cellar, which is why the operation only ever produces 2500 top-quality bottles per year.
The wine farm produces four varieties:
- Pinela (12–15 days of skin contact, then blending in barrel, bottling after one year)
- red blend Rebus (12–15 days of skin contact, barrel-aging for 4 years, then bottling)
- Maklen orange wine, made from ancient Vipava varieties
- white blend: Ribolla and Malvasia (skin contact)
