Lokar Gallery

The birth house of Danilo Lokar, physician and author, in Ajdovščina accommodates the Lokar Gallery which is operated by the Fine Artists Society of the North Primorska region. The gallery sets up exhibitions of artwork by contemporary visual artists, and also features a memorial room paying homage to Danilo Lokar.

Lokar Trail

A lasting monument to Danilo Lokar was established by the Lavrič Library Ajdovščina in 2022, on the occasion of the writer’s 130th birth anniversary, with the creation of the Lokar Trail.

The Lokar Trail leads from Lokar’s house across the main square to the Lokavšček stream, then along it towards the village of Gorenje to the source of the Hubelj River, and from there back along the opposite bank to the starting point. It is about 8 km long, not demanding, and suitable for all generations. It can be completed in two to three hours. The trail is marked with a stylized fountain pen. Information boards along the way present details about the trail and its features, including quotations, excerpts from Lokar’s works, and photographs.
