Kromberk Castle
Located in the village of the same name, Kromberk Castle is a typical example of Renaissance architecture with an almost square floor plan and four corner towers that make for an impressive sight. The original castle was erected in the early 13th century. In the early 17th century it was acquired by aristocrat Ivan Marija Coronini who commissioned its present form. The castle was heavily damaged in both world wars and the splendid interior was sadly destroyed. The renovated castle boasts a fine park with a Baroque well and outdoor lapidarium. It is the main seat of the Regional museum Goriški muzej which displays permanent collections and temporary museum exhibitions.
