Starting point: main square in the heart of Vipava.

Start pedaling on this cycling adventure in front of the Lanthieri mansion in the heart of beautiful Vipava. Head off on the promenade eastward, in the direction of Ljubljana. Right past the village of Podnanos the road splits off toward Nanos itself and the 8 kilometers of steep ascent towards the Nanos mountain hut begins. A little bit after the hut the paved road turns into gravel and soon you’ll start climbing to the Vojkova mountain hut on the top of Nanos (1240 m), where after an intense effort you will surely deserve a warm meal. From the top of Nanos, the extremely popular hiking destination, you can feast your eyes on views of the Vipava Valley, the Karst Plateau, the Adriatic Sea, the Ljubljana basin, and the Julian Alps. From here it seems like the whole country is at your fingertips. After your meal at Vojkova hut continue on westward, and then make a right to go toward Abram, the popular agritourism farm. Soon there will be another short climb leading to the Abram farm. Here you’ll begin the descent towards Sanabor. When you get to the village make a left and soon another left, to continue downward towards Vrhpolje, which is well-known for its great winemaking tradition. From Vrhpolje it’s just a short ride ahead toward where you started in Vipava.
