Situated in the town of Solkan, Villa Bartolomei is an 18th century country house that was converted into a museum in the 1980s. The villa houses several permanent collections of the Regional museum Goriški muzej, including an exhibition about the conservation and restoration activity, providing glimpses behind the scenes of museum work, with a modern twist. A special highlight is the ethnological collection of Pavel Medveščak Slavic native faith and Old-believers, displaying the heritage of our forbearers and their close connection with nature. The 430 artefacts from stone featured in this extraordinary collection bear witness to the knowledge of the ancient culture of the native Slavs.
